2009 Student Art Show

The 2009 Teller County Student Art Show is up and hanging on the lower level of the

Woodland Park library.

Twenty-seven awards totaling over $2700 were presented on Sunday April 19th to the winning students.

The show will be on display until Thursday April 29th.

The unanticipated spring snowstorm forced last minute changes in the scheduling of the show.

Nine hours of work had to be condensed into an organized hectic three hours.

The artwork was checked in, hung, juried, awards were presented and the students, teachers, sponsors and family celebrated the show in only three hours. Wow!

A special thank you to the following, without their help and support

this show would not be possible.

Many, many hours went into the planning, organizing and executing this show.

  • All the students. They stepped up to the plate, showed their talents, followed directions and demonstrated their skills.
  • Teachers, mentors, and parents. They took the time to guide and encourage and support these young budding artists. They are the unsung heroes standing in the background.
  • The Mountain Artists Group. They provided the majority of the financial and physical support.
    • The Art Show Committee who put in several hundred hours of work.
  • The Woodland Park Library. They provided the space and put up with the noise and commotion of the Awards Presentations.
  • The Judges. Penny Stewart and Irene Braun. They did the impossible. They selected nineteen awards in thirty minutes. They acted extremely professionally.
  • The following sponsors: They generously gave their time to pick their favorite artwork, present their awards and provided financial support to the show.
    • The honorable Steve Randolf – Mayor of Woodland Park.
    • The honorable Cirena Bielz – Mayor of Victor
    • The honorable Dan Baader – Mayor of Cripple Creek
